6 Creative (and Delicious) New S’mores Recipes

Try these recipes for s'more-inspired desserts!

If you need a dessert for your next camping trip, you can’t go wrong with the classic marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker combo. S’mores have been a campfire staple for more than 90 years, and we have the Girl Scouts to thank for the first official recipe. A recipe for “Some More” appears in their 1927 guidebook Tramping and Trailing With The Girl Scouts and instructs readers to make a dessert sandwich using graham crackers, broken chocolate bars, and toasted marshmallows.

It’s a time-tested treat that’s become synonymous with summer, but maybe it’s time to try a new twist on this old favorite. We’re sharing some of the tastiest s’more-inspired dessert recipes—from fudgy brownies to a cookie pizza. Most of the following desserts can (and should) be made ahead of time. Store them in a cooler until you’re ready to eat!

S’mores Bars

These dessert bars combine the flavor of s’mores with a chewy cereal bar.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (16 oz.) package mini marshmallows
  • 7 cups Golden Grahams cereal
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan on low heat. Set aside 1 cup of marshmallows, then stir the remaining marshmallows into the butter until it all melts together.
  2. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the Golden Grahams cereal. Then stir in the chocolate chips.
  3. Press the mixture into a greased 9-by-13-inch pan. Top with remaining mini marshmallows. (You may have to press them into place.) Let cool. Then cut into squares to serve.

    4. Roll or press the dough into a greased 12-inch round pizza pan. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until light golden brown.
    5. While the crust is still hot, sprinkle the chocolate chips on top. Then sprinkle the mini marshmallows over the chocolate chips. Bake for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the chocolate chips and marshmallows start to melt. Let cool slightly, then serve.

S’more Bites

These mini s’more bites taste even better when chilled.

Ingredients:

  • 48 mini square pretzels
  • 12 marshmallows (regular size)
  • 1-2 cups milk chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place 24 pretzels on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. (Make sure the pretzels are a couple inches apart.)
  2. Use a kitchen scissors to cut the marshmallows in half. Place a marshmallow half on the top of each pretzel.
  3. Put the pretzels and marshmallows in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the pretzels and marshmallows from the oven and let sit for 2-3 minutes until the marshmallows shrink a little. Then place a pretzel on top of each marshmallow.
  5. Heat the chocolate chips in a microwave until melted, stirring about every 30 seconds. Use a spoon to drizzle the melted chocolate over each marshmallow pretzel. Let set before serving. (To speed things up, place the s’more bites in a refrigerator or freezer.)
